Charlesworth

In Charlesworth House, we aim to bridge that all-important gap between school and university by slowly giving the Sixth Form students more privileges and responsibilities until they are able to manage their own time effectively and make decisions for themselves. Of course there is still an enormous amount of support on offer to help them navigate the path to adulthood with a dedicated team of academic tutors, our excellent Next Steps team and an experienced pastoral team in the house.

Charlesworth House is set up for the students to learn to live more independently. With four common rooms, the Sixth Form have plenty of space to spread out and enjoy their ‘free time’ during their busy schedules. The Link, the shared Sixth Form space linked with Lloyd-Williams House, is also an integral part of the Sixth Form space, in which the weekly Midweek Pause and the new Saturday Night socials take place.

Although we are preparing our students for the world outside of the Moreton bubble, we still expect them to take an active role within the school community and those who give back to the school – whether it is as a Prefect, a Divisional Captain, a member of the choir or as the chair of one of the many committees and societies – find that they have the most fulfilling Sixth Form experience. As the saying goes “if you want something done ask a busy girl to do it!”; girls in Charlesworth House are busier than most but they absolutely relish this.

The Housemistress: Mrs Eleanor Diack

During her 10 years at Moreton Hall, Mrs Eleanor Diack has always been heavily involved in pastoral activities whilst also helping to run a very busy Music Department and deliver high standard Music lessons herself. In addition to her pastoral work at Moreton, Mrs Diack has worked with many different youth orchestras, choirs, bands and dance organisations on residential courses, often as Pastoral Lead, where she has gained a plethora of experience in mentoring and guiding young adults and is passionate for the Sixth Form students to develop skills and resilience in order to help their progression to their next step beyond Moreton.

Mrs Diack is well known for her Music teaching in the department, Musical leadership of the Senior School Productions and her coordination and management of the ten Visiting Music Teachers, so it is true to say that her organisation skills are exceptional; a very useful skill to have as a Sixth Form Housemistress. In her free time, Mrs Diack has a great passion for reading and can often be found with her head in a book when she is not helping her husband to run their 1920’s Dance Hall. Mrs Diack loves to dance with the Jive, Salsa and the odd bit of ballroom dancing, being her specialities so I’m sure she will be one of the first on the dance floor for the Saturday night socials.
