Lloyd-Williams

Lloyd-Williams is one of our two Sixth Form boarding houses and is located a stone’s throw away from the STEM department within the centre of school. The Lloyd-Williams ethos has one main characteristic at heart – respect. In the house, girls and house staff respect one another as well as the house itself, which everyone considers as their home away from home. Together staff and students join to create a boarding environment filled with a warm and welcoming spirit combined with a sense of true belonging.

The students all benefit from individual rooms with personal study space and there are several bathrooms spread across the house. The large corridors and two well-equipped common rooms ensure that the students have plenty of space for socialising and chilling out after a busy day at school. Lloyd-Williams shares The Link with students in Charlesworth House, ensuring our Sixth Form students have an area where they can join together for Saturday Night socials or Mid-Week Pause.

Lloyd-Williams girls are right at the heart of the Moreton Hall community, bringing passion, drive and a strong sense of purpose to all they do. Whether they’re leading as Prefects or Divisional Captains, performing in the Senior School Production, running the school businesses through Moreton Enterprises or mentoring younger students, they throw themselves into school life with energy and enthusiasm. You’ll also find them representing the school on the sports field, debating in Model United Nations, or supporting charity events – always ready to get involved, lift others up and make a difference.

The Housemistress: Miss Sophie Davies-Cooke

Miss Sophie Davies-Cooke, an Old Moretonian, returned to Moreton in September 2021 before becoming Housemistress of Rylands, and later Housemistress of Lloyd-Williams. She infuses the House with her unwavering dedication and deep connection to the school’s values. Miss DC’s presence is not the only heartwarming aspect of Lloyd-Williams House; her pug companion, Bertie, is a beloved resident, and constantly on the lookout for stray custard cream biscuits! Beyond her role as Housemistress, Miss DC is an enthusiastic member of our teaching staff in the Prep School, and enjoys baking, reading, and convincing her fellow Housemistresses to go on long country walks up the nearest mountains! Growing up in a boarding environment herself, Miss DC empathises with the challenges and opportunities of boarding life, making her a trusted mentor to her students. With academic achievements that include a History degree from the University of Exeter, a Law degree from the University of Law, and a PGCE from Goldsmiths University, Miss DC brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her role, enriching the lives of everyone in Lloyd-Williams House.
