Oxbridge Mentoring Programme
A rich and varied programme of tutorials, seminars and interview practice is in place for students intending to apply to the universities of Oxford or Cambridge, or other highly competitive universities. Applications to Oxbridge typically require entrance tests tailored to the subject; submission of marked essays for Humanities subjects; a personal statement that shows off an abundance of extra-curricular achievement; and at least two interviews.
Our Oxbridge Mentoring Programme ensures we prepare our students for this demanding process. Bespoke interview practice is arranged with internal and external experts through our network of professional contacts, allied with in-house critical thinking sessions with the Oxbridge Lead teacher. These latter might ask students to approach an ethical problem from their chosen subject’s point of view, or challenge students to approach their studies from novel angles. One-to-one sessions are arranged to refine personal statements: often the first port of call in the application process. Care and attention are taken in matching students to the right college (Oxford and Cambridge are collegiate universities): they vary in size and location, for example, or may have world-renowned tutors in residence.
Our Oxbridge Mentoring Programme has established a successful culture of excellence in the school, underpinned by expert, personalised support. Our guidance ensures that academically aspirational young women are ideally placed to apply to the most competitive universities and flourish once there.
