Rylands

Rylands House is a haven within Moreton Hall School, exclusively reserved for our Upper Five pupils. This welcoming abode boasts a large number of cosy double en-suite rooms tailored to individual needs, ensuring a comfortable and personalised living experience. The house itself strikes a harmonious balance between modernity and warmth, making it an inviting space for our pupils.

At Rylands House, we take the concept of a ‘home away from home’ to heart. It’s not just a place to rest one’s head; it’s a vibrant community that values connection and camaraderie. Here, we treasure the art of creating cherished memories, from House trips to Chester Christmas Markets, and Boat Trips in Chester to relaxed Saturday night board games. These shared experiences strengthen bonds and enrich the pupils’ journey through their academic and personal growth.
Rylands House is more than just a place to reside; it’s a nurturing environment where lifelong friendships are forged, and dreams take flight.

The Housemistress: Mrs Helen Rayner

Mrs Helen Rayner is a well-established member of the Moreton Community; she has been associated with the school for over 20 years and over the years has had a leading role in producing a number of large-scale, whole-school creative projects and productions.

After working in two large state secondary schools in North Wales, in 2003 she was first appointed as Assistant Director of Music and became Director of Music in 2009. Given her extended experience working and being immersed in this wonderfully refreshing environment for many years, Mrs Rayner’s transition into Housmistressing has been seamless, finding the valuable and transferable skills learnt from leading a strong and nurturing Department, such as Music, a very useful insight into tapping into the aptitudes and interests of students to help find fulfilment and joy. Mrs Rayner likes nothing more than to find out how individuals can reach their true potential, and create personalised learning experiences and opportunities to germinate, cultivate and grow during their time at Moreton.

Mrs Rayner lives on-site with her husband, an Operations Manager of an Electric Vehicle Charger Company, and two children. In her spare time, Mrs Rayner enjoys gardening, walking with their dog Jesse, and baking.
