Stunning Fireworks See Off the Back to School Blues!

Any back-to-school blues were quickly dispelled as with woolly hats, scarves, gloves and wellies on, pupils and families from Nursery and Prep to Sixth Form gathered on the field for the annual Moreton Hall Bonfire night. With delicious burgers and hot dogs, as well as a brimming cups of hot chocolate in abundance, there was plenty of time to mingle and swap half term stories in the countdown to the display.

The lighting of the impressive bonfire, constructed by our busy groundsman, was suitably commended with oohs and ahhs from the gathered crowd, whilst sparklers waved high, spelt out names and patterns in the night sky.

Then, as the bonfire continued to burn, the crowd counted down, the touchpaper was ignited and the literal highlight of the evening illuminated the night skies. The Bright Sparks fireworks display which followed was quite simply breathtaking; a bombardment of light and colour shooting up and up into the night skies, each firework continuing its rainbow cloudburst, higher and higher so we were craning our necks to see when each firework would end. It was a stunning display, a magical moment to chase away the dark skies of a winter night.

Huge thanks to many members of the Moreton Hall community, including the Catering team, Facilities and Grounds team, House staff, Charities committee and those staff who volunteered to help keep us all safe – it was a wonderful evening!
