It is music to our ears that Moreton Hall’s Mrs Ellie Diack has been shortlisted as Vocal Teacher of the Year in the prestigious national Music and Drama Awards 2024 sponsored by Casio. Ellie has been recognised for her unwavering dedication and exceptional talent as a vocal teacher and musical director and having a profound and lasting impact on a diverse range of students, making her a shining star in our educational and artistic community.
Michael Jenkins, Head of Drama said: “Ellie is not only a vocal teacher but a beacon of inspiration for our students, nurturing their passion for music and guiding them towards the path of artistic excellence.”
Ellie provides one-to-one voice instruction and group classes, notably within Moreton Hall Schools’ Creative Arts Programme, which is open to local primary schools, who have limited access to arts education or vocal training.
Michael added: “Ellie’s boundless enthusiasm and unwavering commitment to nurturing young talents set her apart from others in her field.
“One of Ellie’s most remarkable qualities is her ability to infuse her teaching with joy and happiness. Many of her students come to her without any prior professional coaching, and Ellie’s nurturing approach instils them with confidence and a profound love for music.”
Ellie’s students not only improve their vocal abilities but also develop a deep appreciation for the art of singing.
For seven years, Ellie has dedicated her Friday evenings to musically directing Moreton Hall’s Face2Face community performance academy. Through her guidance, she has raised the aspirations of countless students, helping them discover their true potential and boosting their mental wellbeing in the process. The judges were impressed by Ellie’s commitment to her students going above and beyond the call of duty, with her influence extending far beyond the walls of the classroom.
Michael said: “Pupils look forward to the yearly musical theatre performances – of which, the vocals always, stand out!”
In addition to her remarkable work in our community, Ellie selflessly dedicates her time as a coach for the NHS on a weekly basis. Her efforts in helping individuals with COPD and long COVID find their voices and manage their conditions are nothing short of extraordinary. Ellie’s kindness and empathy shine through in her work, making a positive impact on the lives of those she assists.
Michael concluded: “Ellie Diack is not just an exceptional vocal teacher; she is a remarkable human being whose generosity knows no bounds. Her passion for nurturing young talent, her dedication to the community, and her commitment to the well-being of her students make her a true asset to our society.”
The awards ceremony, is set to take place at the London Marriott Grosvenor Square on the 22nd of February 2024.
