Stables House

Stables is one of the two boarding houses for pupils in Remove to Lower Five, and it is also home to our Prep boy boarders. When pupils step into Stables House, we would like them to feel as though they are stepping into their second home, with Miss Nicoll and the Stables House team there to wish everyone a good morning or a good evening. Stables House has a unique identity and our pupils each bring something to add. The main common room is the hub of the house and is equipped with a large seating area, multiple games, puzzles, & books, a dining table and kitchen; it is often filled with day pupils and boarders alike. It is where we host a number of activities, have cups of tea on a wintery day, movie nights, registration and house discussions, among many others. Stables pupils also benefit from a number of other small areas where pupils can gather together to catch up and the Lower Five pupils benefit from a Link common room which is also shared with Pilkington House. Downstairs we also have our own Study Room where the pupils can keep their school books, prep, and stationery in their cubby/locker.

We organise various events, outings, and bonding activities to strengthen the sense of community within the boarding house. These experiences not only create lasting memories but also lifelong friendships. Everyone who has called it home leaves their mark on the House and helps to shape the ever-evolving intangible sense of House spirit that helps make it a special place to live, and helps give our pupils the best possible start to their journey at Moreton Hall.

The Housemistress: Miss Cara Nicoll

Miss Cara Nicoll is the Housemistress of Stables House and lives on-site within the house along with her spaniel, Ozzie. She is passionate about pastoral care and creating a home away from home for both the boarders and day pupils alike. Miss Nicoll is a certified teacher specialising in Geography & Environmental Sciences, PSHE and English Studies. She focuses primarily now on the world of boarding and pastoral care supporting our wonderful pupils in Remove to Lower Five as well as our Prep boy boarders. She still teaches PSHE to our Remove and Lower Four students. She has been a Housemistress for 3 years now, joining Moreton Hall in January 2023 and was immediately taken with the “Moreton Magic”. She always notes that as soon as she stepped through the doors that she felt as though she was welcomed into the Moreton family. When Miss Nicoll is not on duty, you can often find her out on a walk, travelling the English countryside or down the south coast.
