Dirt Track Success for Moreton Motocross Star Holly

For many of us the most competitive activity of the Easter weekend was a race to bag the most chocolate eggs in the Easter Egg hunt but for Holly (Lower Five) the motocross dirt track beckoned and the AMCA 85cc Ladies championships.

Motocross or “MX” is a dirt-bike racing sport in which riders compete on off-road courses like gravel, mud, or grassy roads. Motocross is not just about competing with other riders since the road itself exhibits huge obstacles to beat.

According to the AMCA tournament report: “The sandy expanses of the Fatcat Motoparc in Yorkshire was the venue for round one of the 2023 AMCA British Motocross Championship. Held over two day’s, this year’s series also incorporated the BWMA (British Women’s Motocross Association) and the fast females who were competing in a couple of the same groups as the lads certainly got stuck in, producing determined, high class performances!”

For Holly, coming after a long winter of training hard with her coach, Ash Wild with the RMJ Academy, this was an exciting moment to achieve her first British race win. The report highlights Holly not only for her first female place in the day one event but also as putting in a superb performance on day two as “one of the three consistently highest female finishers, saving their very best until the last moto of the weekend!”

Whilst delighting in her success, Holly says it’s a team effort: “It was great to get my first British race win and I would like to thank everyone who supports me including my parents, my teachers, my trainer and the RMJ Academy.”

Well done, Holly!
