Celebrating International Boarding Week at Moreton Hall

Boarding life at Moreton Hall is full of energy, friendship and opportunity, with rarely a quiet moment to be had! As we celebrate International Boarding Week, we are taking the opportunity to reflect on what makes boarding at Moreton so special: the strong sense of community, exceptional pastoral care and the wealth of experiences that our pupils enjoy throughout the year.

Our boarding houses are at the heart of school life, providing a welcoming and supportive environment where friendships flourish, independence grows and every pupil is encouraged to make the most of their time at Moreton.

This week has been particularly exciting, with some fantastic House trips giving our pupils the chance to enjoy new adventures together. Upper Five through to Upper Six headed into the beautiful Welsh hills with TNR Outdoors for an action-packed experience of white water rafting and rock climbing. Meanwhile, Remove through to Lower Five travelled to Liverpool to take on the challenges of an exciting Ninja Experience. Both trips were wonderful opportunities for pupils to spend time with their House friends, challenge themselves and enjoy a well-deserved break from their usual routines.

Of course, exciting activities are not reserved for special occasions at Moreton Hall. Our boarding programme is varied and vibrant throughout the year, with something for everyone to enjoy. Our much-loved ‘Step Into the Weekend’ programme offers educational enrichment every Saturday morning, allowing pupils to explore new interests, develop skills and discover passions beyond the classroom. Saturday afternoons bring a wonderful variety of activities within the boarding houses, while Sundays offer the chance to venture further afield, with regular trips to theme parks, cities, zoos, ice skating and much more. There is certainly no shortage of things to do!

Alongside this busy programme, pastoral care and wellbeing remain at the heart of everything we do. At Moreton, looking after one another is part of everyday life. Initiatives such as our Big Sister Scheme, Mid-Week Pause, House Prefects and mentors ensure that pupils have a strong network of support around them. Our boarding staff know the pupils in their care incredibly well, creating a genuine sense of belonging and providing the encouragement and reassurance that help each individual thrive.

We also recognise that no two families are the same, which is why Moreton Hall offers a range of boarding arrangements to suit different needs. Whether families are looking for full boarding, weekly boarding, flexi-boarding or occasional overnight stays, there are options to help pupils enjoy the benefits of boarding in a way that works for them. This flexibility also allows day pupils to experience boarding life, strengthening the friendships and connections that make our school community so special.

Boarding at Moreton Hall offers far more than convenience. It gives pupils the freedom to explore new interests, take on responsibilities, build confidence and develop the independence that will serve them well beyond their school years. Perhaps most importantly, it provides the chance to form lasting friendships and share experiences that become some of their most treasured school memories.
