At Moreton Hall Prep, momentum is built through purposeful pastoral care, a rich and evolving curriculum, and a community outlook that helps children feel both grounded and globally aware. As a through-school, Prep pupils benefit from the warmth of a close-knit setting, alongside access to specialist facilities and expertise across the wider School.
A standout example of Moreton’s pastoral approach is the Big Sister Project, a powerful initiative led by pupils, for pupils. Every Prep child is paired with a Senior ‘big sister’, and together they make a simple pact: to look out for one another and stay connected. Big sisters visit regularly, spending time in ways that feel natural and meaningful, sharing lunch, chatting, walking in the parkland, or sitting together over a calm activity like crocheting. Across the site, it is increasingly common to see these small, happy huddles of older and younger pupils. While many schools offer buddy systems, this one has a distinctly Moreton feel: authentic, relational, and rooted in belonging.
Academic life at Moreton Prep is continually evolving. Being part of a through-school allows us to draw on specialist Senior School staff, broadening what we can offer in the classroom. Alongside French and Spanish, pupils now also have the opportunity to learn Chinese as part of the curriculum.
We have also further developed our thematic curriculum, strengthening the links between literacy, History and Geography so that pupils build knowledge in a joined-up way. This approach supports deeper understanding by connecting ideas across subjects, and it naturally lends itself to experiential learning. Recent examples have included a Brazilian restaurant evening, where pupils prepared food and invited families to share what they had learned, and a Mexican-themed evening in the Infant classes, bringing together children and parents for a joyful celebration of culture and place. These experiences reflect a multi-sensory approach to learning that engages head, hands and heart, supporting retention, confidence and enjoyment.
Across Early Years, we have also expanded provision to meet demand. Our EYFS and Pre-Prep have grown this year, with new classrooms designed to reflect the nurturing, supportive atmosphere we aim to create for our youngest children. With access to 100 acres of parkland, specialist teaching, and a campus where facilities are available even to our youngest learners, it is easy to see why places are in high demand.
Moreton Prep continues to play an active role in the local community, with pupils learning the value of both contribution and achievement. The community club visits Bluebell Residential Home weekly, where pupils and residents share stories, take part in craft projects, and enjoy gardening together, a meaningful connection that both generations gain a great deal from.
Finally, our global outlook remains a distinctive strength. Moreton is uniquely placed in Shropshire to welcome international pupils into both the Prep and Senior School, creating a vibrant, cosmopolitan feel on campus. International pupils help to lead cultural celebrations and events such as Mother Tongue Day, and Prep children benefit enormously from learning alongside a diverse pupil body, growing in confidence, curiosity and understanding of the wider world.
Together, these developments reflect the heart of Moreton Prep: a place where children feel known and supported, while opportunities continue to expand with ambition and care.
