Moreton Hall Lacrosse Stars Join Wales Squad for Boston Tour

Over the October half term, a specially selected Wales Women’s Squad of 30 are travelling all the way to Boston to play an exciting but tough schedule of lacrosse fixtures. This trip is part of their preparations for the 2026 Women’s World Championships next Summer in Japan, which will be an incredible competition not to be missed!

Lizzie, Upper Sixth student and Captain of Moreton Hall’s 1st Lacrosse team, has been selected to be a part of this highly competitive and talented squad. This is an astounding achievement as an Under 18 player, and shows Lizzie’s skill, determination, and drive for greatness.

Lizzie will be joined by four Old Moretonians who have also been selected for this esteemed squad. Kiara Kenney (OM 2024), Annabel Noble (OM 2022), Ellie Jones (OM 2016) and Phoebe Jones (OM 2024), who is also currently a Lacrosse Coach at Moreton Hall, will all be making the trip to Boston to take part in this tour. The Head of Lacrosse at Moreton Hall, Carina Walsh, has also recently been appointed Head Coach of this squad as well as the Wales Women’s Lacrosse Programme.

The Wales Women’s Squad are preparing to play against some formidable opponents, such as Roger Williams University, Boston University, Rhode Island University, and Bryant University, as well as the well known Ivy League Brown University and Harvard University! They will also be having a session and big ticket game against the 2024 NCAA Champions Boston College.

Speaking on this astounding achievement, Carina Walsh said, “I am incredibly proud of my position as Head Coach of the Wales Women’s Squad and we have an exciting year ahead as we prepare to compete at the World Championships in Japan next Summer. This upcoming tour provides this very talented squad with the opportunity to play tough fixtures against some of the best in the world, which will go some way to replicate what they will experience in Japan. It also provides a unique opportunity for the team to connect and grow off the field. To have 4 OMs and a current pupil selected to this squad is a huge accomplishment, and it is testament to the lacrosse program we have at Moreton Hall that continues to nurture and develop young talent and does a fantastic job in preparing students for this high level of competition. As a school that sits on the Welsh border, the relationship between Moreton and Wales is of huge value. In addition to the Moretonians travelling to Boston, we have a further 10 students within the Wales Programme, which is just remarkable!”

Congratulations, girls, and good luck!
