On the evening of Friday, 9 February 2024, the air was filled with excitement and anticipation as the Moreton Sixth community gathered for the inaugural Spring Ball. Dressed to the nines, the girls embarked on a night filled with glamour, laughter, and unforgettable moments.
The festivities kicked off in style with a pamper and prosecco party in The Link, where canapés flowed along with a glass of bubbly. The ambience was enchanting, with fairy lights twinkling above and a picture-perfect photo backdrop setting the scene for countless snapshots of joy and friendship. From there, the girls were whisked away to the Lion Quays Hotel and Spa for a prosecco and mocktail reception, where they were joined by their ‘plus one’ guests, adding an extra layer of warmth and camaraderie to the evening.
Stepping into the Lion Quays ballroom was like entering a fairy tale. Golden candelabra cast a soft glow over the room, and the flickering candlelight added a touch of drama to the atmosphere. And let’s not forget the magical private garden, providing a tranquil retreat for those seeking a moment of quiet reflection amidst the revelry.
The culinary delights continued with a delectable two-course meal, setting the stage for an evening of indulgence and delight. But it was the music that truly stole the show, with a stellar line up including hits from ABBA, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, The Killers, and more. The dance floor was a whirlwind of energy and excitement as attendees danced the night away, creating memories that would last a lifetime.
Annie, a member of the Upper Sixth, shared: “It was a wonderful evening filled with food, dancing and laughter, thoroughly enjoyed by all.”
Grace, from Lower Sixth, added: “It really was ‘Murder on the Dance Floor’! I don’t think I’ve ever danced so much in my life!”
Reflecting on the evening, Principal Michael Brewer remarked: “The Sixth Form Spring Ball was such a success. The girls and their guests were a credit to the school and to our Moreton Sixth. It’s clear that they value and celebrate belonging to our community.”
Cecily, of the Lower Sixth, echoed this sentiment, saying: “Everlasting memories were made that night.”
Holly, from the Upper Sixth, summed up the sentiment perfectly: “The Spring Ball was a truly unforgettable night full of music, dancing, and of course, beautiful dresses! This was a completely unique experience for many of us, and we are so grateful to everyone who helped make it possible.”
Special thanks to the Spring Ball Committee, made up of dedicated members from both the Lower and Upper Sixth, whose hard work made the evening possible.
Additionally, we extend our heartfelt appreciation to Mr Michael Brewer (Principal), Mrs Emma Williams (Deputy-Head Pastoral), Mrs Franki Quantrell (Director of Boarding), Miss Sophie Davies-Cooke (Lower Sixth Housemistress), and Miss Jemima Carey (Upper Sixth Assistant Housemistress) for their invaluable contributions in organising and supervising the event. And of course, a big thank you to our wonderful marketing department for their unwavering support throughout the planning process.
As the echoes of laughter and the rhythm of the music linger in our memories, we look forward to more magical moments together as Moreton Sixth.
Here’s to the success of the inaugural Spring Ball and the countless memories yet to be made!
