Take a big bunch of enthusiastic voices, add an orchestra, a generous sprinkling of soloists and a big dollop of Moreton magic and ask Mrs Lott to stir. Then invite an audience of family and friends to sit back and enjoy! That was certainly the recipe for this year’s Christmas Cheer concert starring pupils from Year 3 to Upper Sixth.
Under the baton of Mrs Lott, the evening was stuffed full of Christmas favourites from Jingle Bells to Sparkle and Shine. The Prep Junior Choir and the Stables Choir were in fantastic voice, beaming from the stage as their voices rang out with favourites such as ‘Jingle Bells’, ‘Christmas is Coming’ and ‘Let It Be Christmas’. Solo and duets aplenty were there to delight in a programme which included a Christmas Mash-up which saw five pianists at one piano keyboard. The North Shropshire Orchestra For All, who as their name suggests are a wonderful mix of Moreton Hall and local young musicians, as well as some of the school’s peripatetic team, and a teacher or two too were on fine form with fabulous, seasonal performances of Mozart’s ‘Sleigh Ride’ and ‘Happy White Christmas’. All in all it was a wonderful evening which certainly put the ‘Merry’ into Merry Christmas.
On behalf of the audience, huge thanks must go to all of the performers, as well as Moreton Hall’s fantastic Music department for such a joyful evening. And a special mention for Mrs Lott who brings creativity, energy and joy to everything she does: a true sprinkler of Christmas and Moreton Magic.
