Drama

Moreton has a strong reputation in the performing arts: Music, Drama, Verse Speaking, Public Speaking and Debating in particular.

Drama For All

At Moreton Hall, Drama is more than a subject, it is a passion, a pursuit, and for many, the beginning of a professional journey. Rooted in our values of Embrace, Achieve and Enjoy, our Drama provision invites every student to discover their voice, take creative risks, and thrive in an environment that mirrors the energy and excellence of the professional world.

From the moment they arrive, pupils are encouraged to embrace every opportunity the performing arts offer – whether through the curriculum, co-curricular activities, or our termly productions, which have been widely praised for their professional quality and are frequently compared to West End standards. These shows are the heartbeat of our theatrical calendar, offering unforgettable experiences both onstage and behind the scenes.

Drama in the Curriculum

Drama is part of the core curriculum up to Year 9 and continues to flourish as a popular choice at GCSE and A Level. For those looking to specialise further, we are proud to offer the UAL Level 3 Performing and Production Arts Diploma, a practical, industry-focused course that nurtures the next generation of actors, directors, and theatre-makers.

Aspirational

Our students achieve in spaces designed to inspire. Moreton Hall boasts three exceptional performance venues: the intimate Musgrave Centre, an outdoor amphitheatre nestled within our picturesque grounds, and the cutting-edge Holroyd Community Theatre, which connects our students to the wider creative community and offers a stage worthy of their ambitions.

The Drama department is deeply connected to the industry. Pupils regularly participate in workshops and masterclasses led by leading practitioners, including professional actors, agents and casting directors. We also offer LAMDA qualifications, delivered by a visiting guest acting coach, giving students an added edge as they prepare for the next stage in their journey.

Our reputation for excellence is reflected in the destinations of our alumni, who go on to train at world-renowned institutions such as RADA, the Guildford School of Acting, LIPA, and others. Many have also taken part in national initiatives, including the National Theatre’s schools programme and the Performing Shakespeare Competition, representing the school with pride and distinction.

Above all, our students enjoy every step of their creative journey. Whether performing in a full-scale musical, devising original work, or competing in house drama and national festivals, Drama at Moreton Hall is a celebration of talent, teamwork, and personal growth.
