Music at Moreton knows no boundaries

Music For All

Music at Moreton Hall is where melody, passion, and creativity are woven into the very fabric of school life. Music isn’t just a subject here, it is the beating heart of our community.

Whether it’s the powerful, shared energy of congregational singing in morning assemblies or the thrill of performing on world-class international stages, we believe in creating an environment where every single pupil can thrive in their own unique way.

From pupils who previously had intense stage fright to making their debut performance, to gaining passes, merits and distinctions in ABRSM, LCM and Trinity College examinations, music continues to thrive at Moreton Hall. The dedication and enthusiasm our pupils show towards music is infectious and it is as a result of their hard work and determination and the first-class musical tuition and excellent facilities that they are able to achieve so much.

A Curriculum of Creativity & Passion

From our youngest musicians in Pre-Prep to our Upper 4 pupils, music is a core part of the weekly curriculum. For those who discover a deeper calling, we offer advanced study at public examination levels (A Level, GCSE, Diploma & EPQ)

Our mission is simple: to build creativity, confidence, and a lifelong passion for music.

Guided by a talented and dedicated teaching team, we nurture musical passion from an early age. Our pupils don’t just learn; they excel. From the prestigious Lady Barbirolli performance programmes and national music competitions, to securing high-profile places at world-renowned Music Conservatoires, we give our musicians the wings to fly.

Every Genre, Every Instrument

We celebrate musical diversity. Whether your child is drawn to the timeless elegance of the School Orchestra or wants to jam with budding Jazz musicians, there is a place for them. Our illustrious alumni network reflects this variety, spanning from professional orchestral conductors to West End musical theatre performers.

Our individual tuition on offer within the department is delivered by highly qualified, active working musicians who perform in ensembles globally. Lessons are available in almost all orchestral instruments in addition to classical guitar, electric guitar, bass guitar, and the drum kit. Vocalists can train across a spectacular spectrum, including Classical, Opera, Musical Theatre, and Pop & Rock.

Singing is a proud part of Moreton Hall’s heritage. It is built directly into the curriculum from Pre-Prep to the end of Lower 4 (Year 8), ensuring every pupil receives formal, weekly choir sessions.

As pupils move up the school, our choral options evolve to match their passions:

  • Classical Chamber Choir for refined vocal work.
  • Show Choir for the theatrical performers.
  • Mass Appeal Choir for anyone and everyone who simply loves to sing!
Performance Opportunities

We believe that music is meant to be shared. Moretonians enjoy a vibrant calendar of performance opportunities tailored to build their confidence, including local community concerts and exhilarating international music tours. Most recently, our choir took to the legendary Disney stage previously home to The Lion King show!

Extra-Curricular Clubs

Our musical lineup is constantly evolving to meet the needs and requests of our pupils. There is truly something for everyone:

  • Full Orchestra
  • Chamber Ensembles (String group, Piano Trip, Woodwind ensemble, Brass Duets)
  • Show Choir
  • Chambler Choir
  • Jazz Group
  • Pop and Rock Bands

At Moreton, we don't just teach music, we live it. Come and find your stage, your sound, and your passion.
