Moreton Hall Serves up Sport at the Shrewsbury Food Festival

Moreton Hall was back at the Shrewsbury Food Festival on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th June, swapping last year’s STEM challenge for a weekend of sport. The Moreton Hall stand sat in the festival’s sports area, where girls and staff put visitors through their paces with lacrosse skills, strength exercises and our Crazy Catch challenge: how many catches could you make in a minute?

Across the two days we welcomed hundreds of children and their families to the stand, and plenty of parents couldn’t resist having a go themselves (the competitive streak we spotted last year was very much alive again). A big thank you to the girls and staff who gave up their weekend to run the activities and talk to visiting families about life at Moreton Hall.

Cookery still had its moment. On Saturday afternoon, two of our Sixth Form Leiths students took to the Teach and Taste tent for a cooking demonstration, showcasing both the Leiths provision at Moreton and their confidence in front of a crowd.

The Shrewsbury Food Festival, run by Shropshire Festivals, was named Tourism Event/Festival of the Year at the 2026 West Midlands Tourism Awards for the third year running. Held in Shrewsbury’s Quarry Park, it brings together around 180 independent food, drink and home exhibitors, alongside chef demonstrations, live music and a whole area of free children’s activities.
