Triumvirate of Moreton Hall Lacrosse Players Selected for Wales’s World Championship Lacrosse Squad
Moreton Hall is celebrating this week with the news that three Moreton Hall girls have been selected to represent Wales in the 2024 World Lacrosse U20 Women’s Championship later this year.
Wrexham born, Phoebe (Year 13) from Ellesmere, Lizzie (Year 11) from Ruabon and Hannah Legge (OM 2022), currently studying with a Lacrosse scholarship at university in the USA, will all travel to Hong Kong from 15-24 August.
For Phoebe and Lizzie in the midst of A Level and GCSE examinations, the news is the latest accolade in a year in which they were part of the Moreton Hall First Lacrosse team who won the National Schools Lacrosse Championship, with Phoebe named Most Valued Player.
Reflecting on the news Phoebe said: “It is so exciting to be selected and I can’t wait to train with such a talented group of girls. It’s going to be a busy summer with time in Cardiff and Thailand before we head to Hong Kong. It feels like an amazing way to end my A Level year.”
Lizzie added: “I was in the middle of revising for my Maths GCSE when I heard. It was a welcome interruption but I didn’t let it stop my revision for too long! As one of the youngest on the squad, I feel really privileged to be selected to go to Hong Kong with such an amazing group of players.”
For Moreton Hall Principal Michael Brewer, the news is another success in a remarkable year of Lacrosse at Moreton Hall: “Upon joining the Moreton Hall community, I was keenly aware of the importance of Lacrosse to the school, what I understood less well – and have delighted in finding out – is the importance of our girls to Lacrosse, at County, National and now International level. Are there future 2028 Olympians in our midst? I wouldn’t rule that out.”
