At Moreton Hall, pastoral care is never static. We continue to refine how we listen, respond and support pupils, ensuring every child feels known, valued and confident in their day and boarding life.
Over the past few years, pupil voice has been a major focus within boarding. We now run whole-school anonymous pastoral questionnaires twice each year, with additional half-termly house questionnaires to keep feedback regular and meaningful. This sits alongside a strong structure of pupil-led committees, including house committees, food committees, an international committee, and an active Prefect team.
Importantly, this feedback has led to tangible change. Recent developments include The Shed, a dedicated Sixth Form social space, and a weekly Lower Fifth breakfast with tutors in House, strengthening relationships and day-to-day pastoral contact. Pupils have also driven wider improvements to school life, including the introduction of a new school coat to the uniform list, developed by the Moreton Enterprises team, alongside a range of other pupil-led initiatives.
We have also strengthened parent partnership by introducing Parent Year Group Representatives, who help bring parents and guardians together within each year group. Representatives meet with the Senior Leadership Team termly, creating a valuable two-way conversation: parents can raise themes emerging within their year group, and SLT can share updates and new initiatives early and clearly.
Alongside this, we have reintroduced Friday coffee mornings in Moreton Enterprises, offering a relaxed opportunity for parents to connect with one another and with the School, helping families feel part of the Moreton community.
Looking ahead, two further initiatives will support pupils and families even more confidently. For our September 2026 intake, we are creating a new international welcome video to help pupils know what to expect before they arrive, from airport arrival to key locations around the school, with practical tips from current international pupils.
We are also developing a parent/guardian toolkit designed to demystify the developmental stages pupils experience as they progress through senior school. This roadmap will include helpful guidance, signposting and links to resources from our Wellbeing Hub, and will be ready for the start of the 2026–27 academic year.
Together, these steps reflect a simple principle: Moreton continues to listen carefully, act purposefully, and keep improving the everyday experience of every pupil and every family.
