Moreton Hall staff are delighted to be supporting Derwen College for their annual Spinathon.
Moreton Hall, to support Derwen College in their fundraising efforts, set up their own spin bikes with sessions taking part throughout the day.
Moreton’s Principal, Michael Brewer, and Chair of the Board, Duncan Murphy, geared up to participate in the Spinathon, ready to pedal their hardest in order to raise money for a good cause.
Derwen College, which is a specialist college based in Shropshire, offers students with learning difficulties and disabilities the opportunity to learn vocational and independence skills. The Spinathon, which is in aid of the Derwen Charity, is one of the college’s main charity events of the year and will see Derwen students and staff riding throughout the day and night in order to raise money.
Moreton Hall are particularly proud to be fundraising for the college, as all money raised will allow the students of the college to enjoy extra experiences and opportunities, as well as to thrive in their independence, learning and wellbeing.
Abi Plowden, Director of Learning and Head of Geography, said: “Derwen College is a fantastic College for young people who have special educational needs and disabilities. We are very grateful to be involved in such a wonderful opportunity to support the college.”
Abi, who is also a Governor at Derwen College, will be taking part in a 90s rave spin session at the college at 12am.
Moreton Hall and Derwen College already have an existing relationship, with Derwen College students attending Moreton every Thursday and Friday, to gain additional skills and work experience whether that be in the dining hall, prepping in the kitchen or helping in the Holroyd Community Theatre.
Mr Conroy who is an ‘industry champion’ for the college, as well as Catering and Lettings Manager at Moreton Hall, will be at Derwen College with two of the students who visit Moreton, pedaling for two hours.
