Growing A Musician
            The Lady

            Barbirolli Society

It takes a village to raise a child — and it takes a team to grow a musician. Top-
level teaching, resources, ensembles, performance opportunities, and constant
support all play a part. With the right encouragement and access, all students
can thrive. If these elements stay consistent, the rewards are tremendous.

Given the national downturn in the numbers and throughout their journey here. They gain
of students taking GCSE and A Level music in confidence and performance experience in
recent years, and the narrowing diversity of termly Internal Performances (often with over 20
instruments being learned, I’ve been thinking performers!) and Prep Recitals. Students can also
about how schools, music services and work towards ABRSM, Trinity, and LCM exams.
institutions are responding. Are they offering Highlights this year included successes at the
free lessons or instrument hire, improving Oswestry and Alderley Edge Festivals and our

communities about the value of music?
All of these help, of course — but how do we
truly inspire young people to commit to music
long-term, to practise over months and years,
            and still want to improve?

At Moreton, we teach from the bottom up.
We are fortunate to have a highly skilled team
of visiting music teachers working alongside
our music department. Students are taught
by professionals from their very first lesson
