Times Have Always

            Been Changing,

            and the Future Is

            in Safe Hands

It is often said that we live in
            changing times—and we do. But
we always have. As we come to the
close of the school year, our leavers
prepare to depart from their home
here at Moreton, and from their
family homes, in pursuit of higher
            education, employment, or further
            adventure. Thoughts turn to how
much is about to change, and change
            can be notoriously unsettling.

When we feel that we don’t know what is
coming next, it is only natural to experience
a certain nervousness. We can embrace that

the time to understand more, so
that we may fear less.” what the future holds, we become freer,
more agile, and less fearful. This is the
Sometimes we get stuck on what we challenge that faces our leavers as they
know—and what we don’t. There is, of go out into those perennial changing times.
            course, a difference between knowledge
and understanding. Crucially, when we Lin Wells, former U.S. Deputy Assistant
understand that we won’t always know Secretary of Defense, was in 2001 tasked
