family and friends,
In Values, Vision and Commitments, the
Governors and I set out what makes Moreton
Hall such a unique and exceptional school, as
well as the steps we are taking to make it even
better. Whilst preserving the values and ethos
which define us, we must not stand still – the
mark of any successful school is a drive for
continuous improvement and development.
This is an ambitious document and no less than
you would expect from Moreton.
In developing Values, Vision and Commitments
over the past 18 months, we have sought and
listened carefully to the views of Moretonians
past and present, staff and parents and taken
them all into account. We are grateful to all
who attended ‘Meet the Principal’ events, and
to those who took the time to write with their
views or to discuss them more informally. Our
current pupils contributed via School Council
and Prefect meetings as well as through our
shared meals or over hot chocolate and cookies.
My door is always open and I welcome such
conversations.
The unanimity of purpose and passion for
our school has been uplifting: we share our
timeless values and a vision for what we mean
by education at Moreton. In putting them to
paper, I hope Moretonians past and present
recognise the school they love and feel part of
and that those considering Moreton for their
son or daughter take away the very essence of
life here.

Latterly, we set out a series of strategic
commitments for every aspect of life at
Moreton Hall and indicative time scales for
meeting them. Rest assured we are already
working hard on every commitment irrespective
of the timescale. Each commitment, either
directly or indirectly, improves the educational
experience of the young people in our care and
ensures we continue to provide a first-class
lifelong education for years to come. Some
goals are mindful of the need to offer parents
the best possible value for money and broaden
access. You can also see an emphasis on being a
central part of our wider community.
A strategic overview like this is organic. As we
saw in 2020, situations and priorities change
and so the commitments presented here must
respond and evolve. Whilst our core strategy is
clearly set out, successes from previous years
and agility to that which is unforeseeable feed
into our future development. Inspiration can
come at any time and nurturing that is a key
ingredient of Moreton’s magic.
I invite you to join us as we build on the
success the school has enjoyed for so long.

next chapter in our story. As I so often say to
prospective parents; it’s the ethos and people
that make Moreton special.
